No! You didn't even get burnt!

So as you can see below last weekend we went camping at Strawberry. Well we didn't even bother to put sunscreen on Dexton because he has been in the sun so much and NEVER burns we didn't even think about it. For heavens sakes he's been to Disney twice and been in the sun ALL day long for days and never burnt so why would he now. Well two days ago when I went to wake Dexton up his face was peeling! I was like NO! You didn't even burn how can your face be peeling. I was crossing my fingers hoping if we caked him with lotion it would get better because TODAY was the photo shoot of Naartjie. So I emailed Katie (the photogropher) to see what I should do. She asked for me to send in a picture so I did. I then got the bad news :( She said it looked pretty bad so not to come in. I know sad. She said though he will be in the next shoot but it's still sad. He has never burned or peeled why this week. Oh well thats life :)

Strawberry for the 24th!

So for the 24th we went with friends and family up to Strawberry. It was fun, hot, rainy, and not what I was expecting when I thought of us camping. It was really like we found a spot and camped, no bathrooms and water. It was a little too much for me. I love to camp but I like to be in a camp site. It was a good experience and would I do it again, I would. Dexton loved it and just watching him having a blast was well worth it!

New Cupcake Header!

So I just love my new header that my talented friend Stephanie drew me for my cupcake blog. Can you tell the picture is ME! I love it! She is so talented and if you ever want to see her work I posted her sites and you can buy stuff from her too. She has art and WAY CUTE BABY stuff and she's not even a mommy! I needed a new header because Angie is not going to be part of the cupcake business anymore. She hardly ever did anything with the cupcakes anyways and she is just so busy with her 2 jobs and going to school. I was very sad to say it is going to be "Alisha's cupcakes" and not "Alisha's and Angie's cupcakes" but she is moving on to bigger and better things :)
p.s. she is the one that drew that picture of me and Dexton a while back.

1st attempt!

So I have gotten asked a lot if I can make a small wedding cake to go on top of the cupcake stand. I always say no but I thought "what the heck, I might as well try." So we had a birthday party for my grandma and I told my mom I would make the birthday cake. Well here's how it turned out. I was happy with the results but would NEVER NEVER sale this. There were so.....many FLAWS and mistakes. I can't believe how hard it was and I can't believe how expensive fondant is. No wonder they charge an arm and a leg for wedding cakes.
I'm just going to keep practicing and hopefully one day I can say "Yes, I can make you a small wedding cake :)"

So I was trying to put orange flowers with frosting on the cake and it just kept dripping down and I had to wipe it off and figure out what to do now. That's what the orange stains are.

The fondant cracked while I was putting it on. I tried to fix it but it just got worse. This was the back of the cake OF COURSE!!!

My moms birthday was actually yesterday but we celebrated it today. We went out to Macaroni Grill for lunch. McKenzie was taking care of my crazy Dexton outside so Kenzi wasn't in the pictures...sorry Kenzie. It's always fun hanging out with the fam and Dexton loves his papa, nana, kenzie, and his aunti angie. He actually didn't even want to come with us home, he was trying to grab on anyone but Dave and I.

Love Hate Relationship. This is Dexton tackling Jacob for the football...oh wait there isn't a football, it's just Dexton tackling Jacob. They have the funniest relationship. They are so mean to each other but have fun with each other too sometimes. They are only one month apart. These cousins one day will be friends...we hope :)

Dextons face expressions when the ball is coming to him are so funny. He was so good at catching the balls though.

Our other tradition is to hang out with Daves family on the evening of the 4th of July. We usually will bbq down by the stadium of fire, throw the football, and watch the fireworks. This year we just bbq'd at his parents house and then drove down and watched the fireworks at the stadium of fire. The fire works just weren't as good as the years before but Dexton loved it and that's all that mattered. Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!
