My 3 Year old can SWIM!!!

So 2 years ago I put Dexton in the swim lessons at the Lehi Rec Center.  I really felt like he didn't learn anything.  My friend has had her 4 year old boy in private lessons for a couple of years now and he can swim like a fish.  It's a little pricey but definatly worth it.  The 1st few classes are intense!!!  The 1st day Dexton cried during the whole lesson.  Day 4 they made him do a double class to get him to swim on his back.  He hated his back.  As soon as they would let go of him he would turn around and try to grab them.  They refused to let him get him and pushed him to his limit.  All 3 of the kids that were taking lessons that day were throwing up.  I know how could you do this to your kids???  I really hesitated wondering if we were doing the right thing.  Lesson 5 OH MY GOSH!!!  What a difference!  Swam on his back, swam to and from the instructor, diving off the edge and swimming to his back to the edge.  I was speechless.  I couldn't believe in 5 20 minute lessons my little 3 year old could swim!!!  Everyday he improves and does something more amazing!  I am so glad my friend talked me into doing this for Dexton!  Dexton tells us he is a shark now!
FLOATING ON HIS BACK ALL BY HIMSELF.
He floats till he feels the edge and then turns around and grabs the wall.
Dave pushing Dexton down to the light in the bottom of the pool.
Dexton touches the light and swims up and grabs the wall.

Dave teaching Dexton to push back and float on his back.
Dave does it first then...

Dexton does it!   Dexton at swim lessons again.  He hated wearing the goggles but now loves it.
Dexton diving off the edge.  He has learned as soon as he jumps in to flip over and swim on his back to the wall.

Yay Dexton! And such a good, safe skill to have... Drowning kids are not fun.

That is awesome! I never would have thought a kid that young would be able to swim.
