Holiday Party 2010!!!

The Invitations...

Oh how I love Christmas time...doesn't everyone!  Well we had our annual Christmas party and it was a hit!!!  Though we were missing quite a few of our friends which were missed dearly we still had a blast!
We ate a ton and played our usual games plus for a bonus played Minute to Win it!  LOVED it!  I split everyone into 2 teams and before we started had each team secretly write on a piece of paper what they want the other team to do for them if they win, but to remember that they might have to do it instead.  The winning team wrote that they wanted their cars washed and detailed.  The loosing team wrote that the other team had to go to dinner, men with mustaches and ladies with a uni brow.  The winning team stuck with theirs and so the loosing team will be washing their cars this spring :)  These games were so much fun!!!  Defiantly doing it next year!

Un-wrapped

What you will need:
  • A Prize
  • Boxes, sizes that fit inside each other. The prize must fit into the smallest box.
  • Wrapping paper
  • Newspaper
  • Dice
  • Christmas hat
  • Oven mitts or gloves
  • Scarf
  • Tape
Preparation:
Place the prize inside a box. Fill any space with newspaper. Wrap the box with wrapping paper. Place that box inside a larger box and fill any empty space with newspaper. Wrap that box with wrapping paper. Continue this process of wrapping the box, filling space with newspaper and placing inside a larger box for as many times as you want. When you start this game the prize will seem huge!
Game Play:
Have everyone either stand in a circle around the gift or in a line. The first player rolls the dice. If it comes up doubles then the player puts on the hat, scarf and the mitts and starts unwrapping the present. The next player immediately rolls the dice. If it is not a double then it is the next player in lines turn. Once another player rolls a double the player unwrapping the present has to stop and hand over the hat, scarf and mittens. Then the new player puts on the hat and gloves and continues to unwrap. This continues until someone un-wraps the prize. They are the winner!
A white elephant gift exchange is a popular holiday party game found primarily in North America. It has many variations in both the name and the game play. Generally, white elephant parties need a minimum of six participants. With a larger group, game play may be more protracted. White elephant parties have been known to result in intensely vicious and/or playful rivalries between players trying to get sought after gifts. The goal of a white elephant party is usually to entertain rather than to gain. This game is sometimes called a Yankee Swap, Chinese Gift Exchange, Dirty Santa, Thieving Secret Santa, or Parcel Pass.

Christmas Minute to Win It

Merry Fishmas
Players must use Candy Canes as fishing hooks and hook four candy canes on top of each other. Think Barrel of Monkeys.
Required items:
Santa Hat
30cm plastic pole (think the thickness of say a straw) with a hook on the end
15 cm candy cane which is hung from the bottom of the candy cane (ie; upside down) and securely attached to the end of the pole by fishing line.
4 small candy canes
Raise your Glass
Required items
15 plastic martini glasses
1 table
1 bucket full of small Christmas baubles
1 player

Player must stack three levels of glasses with tree ornaments plus one empty glass on top (four storey tower).
Face the Candy Cane...
This is played in the same manner as Face the Cookie - just simply use a Candy Cane.

1) When the clock starts, player may grab the first cookie and place it on the forehead.

2) The cookie must remain in contact with the face (i.e. player may not toss the cookie from the forehead and catch it in the mouth).

3) If a cookie falls, player may reset an intact cookie on the forehead for the next attempt.

4) To complete the game, the player must hold an intact cookie 3 times with his or her mouth within the 60-second time limit.

Christmas Ball Conveyor
Required Items
5mtr length ribbon
Bowl full of tree ornaments (baubles plastic with hangers attached firmly)
2 players

Two players spinning in place, transfer tree ornaments using a ribbon looped around their waist. They must transfer via the "conveyor belt" two baubles and place on the tree. Minute to Win It Full instructions can be found at Minute to Win It

Christmas Ball
Required Items
Gift box lid (medium size)
Tree bauble (plastic)
Target area outline

A player must move a tree ornament across the floor and into a target area by fanning the ornament using only the lid of a gift box
The Nutstacker
1) Set up all 10 metal nuts on the chopstick and lay it on the table.

2) When the clock starts, player may lift the chopstick and begin to stack the nuts on top of each other in the tall standing position.

3) Player may only use 1 hand at all times. Player's other hand may not be used to steady the chopstick hand.

4) Player may not touch the nuts with any part of his or her body.

5) The chopstick and nuts may only touch the table during the placement of the first nut. After that, if either the chopstick or any of the other nuts touch the table, the game is over.

6) To complete the game, the stack of 10 nuts must be built with the chopstick completely removed from the nuts within the 60-second time limit, and must remain that way for 3 consecutive seconds.

We played it different: We used candy lifesavers and did it a little differently

And usually at this "ADULT" Christmas Party no kids are allowed but because this year we had so many born and all under 1 we decided to let all toddlers come.  All of us friends just had babies this year and our other friends Tava and Alex will be having a baby boy in February.  Lucky boy, he's going to have a lot of girls chasing him!  Can't wait for the little guy to join us!
